Love at first touch.
We created a new branded experience to introduce new markets to the idea of a shower toilet, the ultimate in hygiene & comfort.

Our beloved client LIXIL came to us with a new challenge: Develop a way of introducing the concept of shower toilets to the Western & Asian markets who aren’t familiar with the product.

Because of the subject matter, we played it a little tongue in cheek & developed a new character: Dr Bidet - our Japanese shower toilet sensai, who is here to answer all shower-toilet related questions housed within an micro-site that educated & informed different markets about the innovation behind this rather wonderful tradition.

ON THE DAY
OF THE SHOOT

We set up one entire day of production with our partners over at Madmen studios to film our talent. It took many takes, lots of McDonalds delivery and a huge effort in setting up a shower toilet without plumbing, but we came away with some fantastic expressions.

DESIGNING
THE EXPERIENCE

To showcase just how amazing a shower toilet felt, we filmed people from diverse backgrounds actually using the toilet, some of whom had never used one before. Of course this presented some logistical challenges, making sure each participant had privacy while… being sprayed. Their expressions were the focal point of the website - truely a “Love at first touch” moment.

INVENTING
THE CHARACTER

Because the very idea of a shower toilet is seen as foreign - or even taboo - within some emerging markets, I felt it necessary to give it a human touch. A character or mascot that politely and humorously presented the concept in a way that was authentically Japanese. We constructed an interactive timeline that featured Dr Bidet telling the story of the shower toilet & why it’s a worthy investment.

SHOOTING ON
GREEN SCREEN

Shooting on green screen was an absolute necessity as we needed to control Dr Bidets positioning on screen at all times.

"THE WHOLE MICROSITE IS BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED & REALLY ENCAPSULATES THE SHOWER TOILET EXPERIENCE, WHICH IS WHAT WE WERE HOPING FOR"

THE MOBILE
EXPERIENCE

The site itself didn’t lend itself to mobile usage, so we developed a few work arounds: a CSS script that altered the layout of the timeline.

SHOWCASING TECH
& INNOVATION

It was important to show the tech behind the product, so we appended a section to the end of the timeline that showcased some whiz-bang features to boast about. Among them, a deodorizer. This really is a toilet that washes, dries & makes the room smell nice afterward.

GOING BACK
IN TIME

The stakeholders wanted the site to showcase the cultural history of the shower toilet, so we developed a historical timeline to feature key checkpoints in the products development.

INSPIRING ARCHITECTS
& DESIGNERS

Because no product is complete without real world examples, we developed an area to showcase where the spalet has been built into world class apartments, off buildings & hotels.

PRODUCT
CATALOGUE

Several of the shower toilet were featured on the site, along with a product survey which evaluated your requirements & found your perfect shower toilet.
