PHOTO PLATFORM

A sales & sharing Platform for professional designers.
Dissatisfied with photography platforms on the market, I decided to hell with it and design our own.

We share a strong interest in photography. We love anything that tells a story. We also weren't very fond of the photography platforms on offer, so we decided to go about creating our own.

Vivid Images was conceived as a platform for professional photographers to be able to share, rate and sell their work as well as communicate with other phographers, organise events & create shortlists with clients.

We spent a great deal of time listening to photographers and studying their usual workflow. Surprised at just how much of it is manual, we designed & developed a comprehensive set of tools that allowed for an end-to-end automated workflow that enabled photographers to work more efficiently.

A HOMEPAGE THAT
SOLD A PRODUCT

Because we’re a new platform, the homepage took on the role of educating users as to what we were & showcasing the platform & its many features.

A FOCUSED
LOOK & FEEL

So the interface wouldn’t detract from the photography, I kept it clean & spacious. I wanted an intimate feel for the site so I made it dark. It’s often said that white keeps things spacious while black offers focus. This put all emphasis on the photograph.

"I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR A PHOTOGRAPHY PLATFORM FOR A WHILE THAT WASN'T JUST ABOUT VOTES. VIVID HAS SOME BRILLIANT FEATURES"

A BETTER
RATING SYSTEM

I wanted to steer clear of a simple “like” system as it has proven to foster an appreciation to only the visual. I introduced a more detailed rating system comprised of 4 categories based around the 4 pillars of photography: Originality, composition, story & execution. When rating, users would be forced to think carefully about each aspect of the photograph before proceeding.

UPLOADING YOUR
PHOTOS - IN BULK

Uploading large quantities of photos presented challenges in finding an interface that allowed users to add descriptions, categories tags to many – possibly hundreds – at once.

BUILDING SIMPLE
BUT COMPREHENSIVE
PROFILES

Members could construct their own profile which aggregated their bio, contact details & achievements. I decided to limit the amount of customisation so no two profiles wouldn't look overly showy & that members were judged by their work & credentials alone.

FIXING THE VENDER
& CLIENT PROCESS
WITH SHORTLISTS

We solved the problem of the photographer / client approval workflow. As of now there wasn’t anything on the market that would allow photographers to upload photography, allow clients to make their selections & offer a payment gateway – all in one cohesive flow. That’s what Vivid shortlists were for.

TELLING MEANINGFUL
STORIES

Photographers truly see some of the most extraordinary sights, so we built a sophisticated set of tools that allowed them to document their travels & tell their stories.

image13

POWERFUL STATISTICS
TO KEEP TRACK OF IT ALL

With our statistics dashboard, photographers could monitor their daily, weekly, monthly or yearly sales, demographics of clientele, and keeping track of what kind of photography is most successful.

KEEPING TRACK
OF YOUR SALES

There are several ways to earn money on the platform. Either by selling photographs online, or billing clients for completed jobs. Within the sales dashboard users could keep track of both.
