Rewarding transit passengers travelling through Changi Airport.
A dream project for us. Long time client of EIGHTFOUR, Changi Singapore came to us wanting to design and build their membership platform for transiting travellers, allowing them to register flights in exchange for rewards & prizes.
What we did
We designed a massively extensive prototype that we tested with existing members & designed the finished result within that stretched the bounds of the existing online brand guideline while staying true to the Changi brand.
We designed quite a few variations for potential layouts, but ultimately settled on a design that was simple & action based. To cement the idea of membership tiers & achievement, we developed a visual language based of progress & points accumulation, further cemented with a colour scheme change for the entire site when members levelled up to the next tier.
Perhaps the most challenging part of the site, the design of the flights had to align to the rather extensive business logic of how 2-leg flights were booked & the requirements needed for a flight to be accepted for points redemption, all the while be easily understandable by members.
We designed the adding flights flow to be as seamless as possible. Though the option to use barcode scanning technology wasn't available to us, we had to leverage good old fashion intuitiveness. The process was designed & tested to be dummy-proof.
As the secondary step, to get points, members had to also upload their boarding passes.
There was a lot of information to communicate in a short period of time. We had to use to design to cleverly display all aspects of free and paid membership options & an easy way to compare the benefits of both.
