Money matters made simple
Take control of your finances.
Money matters can be complicated. We designed a website that wasn’t.
It’s no secret that people struggle with money and part of the reason is a lack of financial literacy. Moneysense is a government initiative aimed at providing best-in-class financial advice to anyone who needs it. With extensive content relating to savings, loans & credit, insurance, investments, property, retirement, estate planning & even a financial health check, the website provided a means for anyone to take control of their finances.
What we did: We worked with Pebble Road to establish a look & feel that not only suited the brand, but inspired trust among users. For a content heavy site like this, we designed the templates, tools & components necessary for easy reading.
We experimented with several styles and settled on one that was clean, modern & fresh that used splashes of blue and orange.
Because our target market is slightly older, reading long copy can be a challenge, so we built several tools which enabled users to listen to a transcript while watching a video.
Sometimes it’s easy to get lost in a site with endless articles. We fixed that by introducing a play list component which guided readers through the site’s content in a coherent way that allowed them to start with the basics & move to more advanced reading.
One of the first requirements was to make the mobile version as light & easy to use as possible, given that a lot of financially challenged individuals have phones, but not personal computers.
The wonderful thing about the content was that it wasn’t just advice, it’s commissioned content written by industry experts. It was imported to show this in the design.
We designed a range of tools that allowed users to project their savings & investments into the future - from mortgage calculators, to savings & returns & more.
