Internal Platform for a Global VC
A platform for investment success.
We designed a massive internal platform for the global VC that allowed them to do everything.
Vertex Ventures came to us wanting a new platform: one that enabled them to keep track of all their clients, investments & relationship management. To undertake such a task, we spent a great deal of time with the client in research understanding how their business worked.
What we did: We designed a comprehensive internal platform starting off as a rough sketch, then further refined into a fully articulated HTML prototype. What resulted was quite a comprehensive platform which enabled Vertex staff to see every aspect of their business in operation: from client interactions, to recent investments, to contacts & related industry news. It’s Facebook + Linkedin + MailChimp all rolled into one.
We don’t just do wireframes, we develop fully operational prototypes (usually in lesser time required to make flat wireframes) so we can test the usability as well as the business logic of the application before we move onto design.
The dashboard was the entrance into the world. We featured what was most important - recent events & news that were curated by search algorithms that affected global investment trends related to the users specific client base.
Because Vertex invests in such a diverse number of companies and startups, we designed listing pages with rich filtering tools that enabled staffers to find what they were looking for quickly.
We wanted to make the interface as easy to use as possible, so when creating a new company or adding a new contact, we wanted to keep the editing interface exactly like the published page. We found this reduced confusion overall.
We designed an interactive search that included intuitive filtering & tagging systems so users could find what they were looking for instantly. The filtering itself was a modular component that fit into every section on the site, albeit with varying search criteria.
We designed a profile section that allowed users to manage their notifications, sharing preferences & accessibility in fine detail.
Administrators were able to push notifications to specific user groups or across the entire platform.
One of the requirements laid out in the initial brief was the ability to create monthly emails from within the platform form an assemblage of relevant news that are either manually or algorithmically selected based on relevance.
